Finally, finally! Mr Joseph Mbu's time in RIvers State is over. The man has been redeployed to the FCT. A lot of concern has been expressed regarding the continued stay of the the man as the Police Commissioner. APC , the governor and APC members refused to pass the budget except if Mr Mbu was removed. Well, now, they have their way. may we now move on?
Ordinarily, one would think that this whole Mbu-removal saga has any direct economic benefit to Nigerians but all is for political gains, grandstanding and egotrips.
Here's how Punch reported it:
The Police Service Commission has transferred the Rivers State Commissioner of
Police, Joseph Mbu, after months of resisting public pressure.
Mbu has
been moved to the Federal Capital Territory Command while the Commissioner in
charge of the Special Fraud Unit, Johnson Ogunshakin, replaces him in Rivers
State, according to a statement from the Police Service Commission on Thursday.
The CP
has been at loggerheads with the state government, which had accused the police
boss in the state of taking sides in the lingering political crisis in the
state.
The
state Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, and the All Progressives Congress have insisted
on Mbu’s removal, accusing him of partisanship and issuing unconstitutional
directives.
In all,
13 senior officers were affected by the transfer exercise.
